Witcher

I beat it and the expansions. It's a good game, but not nearly as wonderful as some on here would like to think.Let's start with the visuals. The game, looks good, sure.

But is it the best looking game out there? Not at all, and especially wasn't when it first came out. Yes, patches have made it better, but it's in no way the most graphically masterful game around, far from it in fact. The story itself, is good, sure. But is it groundbreaking?

It has plenty of cliche and typical fantasy tropes that have been seen in many an RPG before it. Yes, there was an awesome and dark quest involving a demon baby, and a abusive father, and blah blah blah, and it was well written, but did it do anything to stand out from many an RPG before it?

No, not really. Some think it did, I do not. I saw, as I stated, cliche and your same typical tropes all over again. It's gratuitous just for the fact that it can be. Look, some people like this, and that's fine, but as a man and not a teenager (not saying if you like this you are a teen, just making a point about myself) I don't find the over use of sex in the game to be compelling or even needed.

Yeah, Gerralt can fuck anyone he wants. That's fine, but what's the point? To see some T and A?

Maybe I'm getting older and prefer some subtlety, but the use of sex in the game bordered on gratuitous to me.The combat was not good. Look, once again they patched it, but the combat is pretty one note. Yes, you have to prepare for battles, but it still pretty much comes down to use magic and light or heavy attack. Rinse and repeat.

Nothing about it was innovative in the least. It did nothing to move the genre forward in this regard, it just once again fell into the same gameplay loop that many action RPG's fall into. Just look up any gameplay of the combat and tell me how it looks any different from any other action RPG out there. Now, let's talk about the world of the Withcher 3, especially the cities, they are dead.

What, but there's plenty of NPCS around, they'll say. And they'd be right, there are, but take a moment to watch them. Watch them do the same things over and over, never changing.

Leave a city and come back and guess what, everyone is doing the same thing they have always been doing. That kid is still chasing that chicken. That one lady is still shopping at that stall. No one ever changes. The moment you notice this, you realize the game has no life. That man can only continue to dig that never ending hole for so long before he needs to move on. It makes the world seem lifeless.

When so many other games have done better. Just look at something like Skyrim where there is a living breathing world, where the NPC's all have life and character and explore the world themselves. This does not happen in the Witcher. You'll never find a random NPC from one of the cities exploring the countryside.

Because in the Witcher 3, they don't have lives. They have set paths, and they never deviate from such, at all.

So many other RPG's have figured out how to make the world feel alive, and lived in, with NPC's having lives, but the Witcher is not one of these games. Now, let's talk about CDPR themselves. Look, I get it the free DLC was nice, but let's all be honest, whether it was free or not some of it was just padding that in no way should have been outside of the game. In particular the NG+. Yes, like I said it was free, but come on? What RPG ships without a NG+ these days. Then there was the fact that when the game came out, it was almost unplayable.

Especially on consoles. Many a company and game get eviscerated for this. But CDPR did the right thing and put out patches (not quickly might I add, let's not forget history here) and fixed it.

But the point remains, they were yet again another company that put out a barely working and semi broken game on launch. This is not okay. Third, regarding them, is the fact that they used the Witcher 3 to launch GoG Galaxy, which many like, and that's fine, but don't pretend like it's not a form of DRM. What do I mean? Well without galaxy can you play MP games from GOG?

The Witcher 3 Torrent Skidrow

Nope, not really. So what's that mean?

It means they are locking you out of content unless you have a specific platform. This is DRM guys. There's no way around that. But I digress as that's not about the game itself, just more about the company surrounding it, which people love so much, to the point that they seem above critique as well, which is just ridiculous. No company should ever be above critique. To be fair to CDPR though, they do for the most part do it right, but it doesn't mean they couldn't be better. Now like I said, it's not a bad game. It's just overhyped.

It's not the best game ever. To younger gamers, maybe it is.

But I would say this is simply because some people haven't played a lot of games, and I could see how this one could stand out. That being said, people need to play more games and expand their knowledge of what's out there.Edit. Why not instead of downvoting something reactively, you add to the conversation and refute the points. Quit abusing the downvote system cause you're to lazy to make a point.
