So what's the difference between a Samson C03 running XLR to a usb interface and a Samson USB running straight to a computer?I'll agree when you're investing in real pres and mics, but C03s and AT2020s? Most people are just running that type gear to a Lexicon Alpha or anyway. Why pay $200-400 for the mic and pre when you can pay $100-200 for just the usb mic?You're definitely not getting a boost in quality, and when you're ready to add something that will boost your quality, that $100-200 investment in a usb mic is like a raindrop to a river.it will go unnoticed. And where's the 'latency' talk coming from, if a USB interface doesn't give you these why would a mic with a built in usb interface do any different.

Do you guys realize all a USB mic is is a combination of Mic and usb interface? Instead of buying and, you just buy mic.

No difference whatsoever. How do you guys feel about compact interfaces like the Icecicle that's basically powered XLR to USB adapter?
